Firm History

Firm HistoryHAWKINS LAW PC is an estate, trust, and elder law practice of husband and wife team Jeff R. Hawkins and Jennifer J. Hawkins.

The couple married during college before Jennifer graduated from Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music and Jeff graduated from the university's Kelley School of Business. They attended law school and passed the Indiana Bar Exam together. They began practicing law in Jasonville, Indiana,  as associates in law firm of ROWE & GREGG in 1992.

ROWE & GREGG added Jeff and Jennifer as partners in 1993 and renamed itself: ROWE, GREGG, HAWKINS & HAWKINS. Simultaneously, Jennifer began a two-year appointment as a Greene County Deputy Prosecutor.

The firm reorganized as ROWE & HAWKINS in 1994 when one of the former partners left private practice.  Four years later, ROWE & HAWKINS reorganized again as ROWE & HAWKINS, LLC.

Jeff and Jennifer loved practicing in Greene County, but desired a practice location that was closer to their family and church in Sullivan, Indiana. That opportunity knocked when they acquired the Sevier dental office building in Sullivan, Indiana, in 2000, formed the new law firm of HAWKINS & HAWKINS LLC, and opened a new practice across the street from Sullivan High School in January 2001.

The Hawkins reorganized their practice in 2002 and 2003 to meet the growing needs of their probate and business clientele. The firm changed its name in the fall of 2003 to HAWKINS LAW PC as part of its streamlined practice development. Heavy investment in law practice technology has enabled the husband and wife team to serve clients more dependably over a wide geographic region.

The firm gradually limited its practice subjects to concentrate its energy and deliver more value to its estate, trust, and elder law clients. Jeff Hawkins was certified in 2007 as what is now called a Board Certified Indiana Trust & Estate Lawyer by the Trust & Estate Specialty Board. Jennifer Hawkins received the honor of that certification in 2010. Jeff was elected a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) in 2011 as further recognition of his professional reputation. Both attorneys have taught courses on estate, trust and elder law topics to estate, trust, and elder law attorneys throughout Indiana.

Jeff Hawkins was admitted to practice law in Illinois in September 2012. In the following month, the Indiana State Bar Association elected him Vice President, a position from which he will automatically ascend to President Elect in the fall of 2013 and to President in the fall of 2014. Meanwhile Jeff and Jennifer continue refining their practice, enjoying their daughter's high school years, and worshiping God with dear friends and family.

The Hawkins have worked hard to build a premium quality estate, trust and elder law practice. Now in their third practice decade, they enjoy more than ever the ability that hard work and diligent study has given them to serve generations of individual, families, and businesses in all kinds of triumphant and tragic circumstances.
