Jeff R. Hawkins

Jeff Hawkins graduated in 1988 with the degree of Bachelor of Science in Business from the Finance Department of the Indiana University School of Business in Bloomington, Indiana. Jeff graduated from the University of Louisville School of Law in 1992 with the degree of Juris Doctor. He was admitted to the Indiana Bar and United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana in 1992.

The Indiana State Bar Association has employed Jeff in many roles, including Past Chair of the Professional Legal Education, Admission and Development Section (PLEADS); member of the Clients Assistance Fund Committee; Co-chair of the Probate, Trust, and Real Property Section’s Specialization Committee; Chair of the Elder Law Section’s Committee for Promotion of Competent and Ethical Elder Law Practice; member of the Business Law Section; member of the Bankruptcy and Creditors’ Rights Section; Past Chair of the Young Lawyers Section; Past Chair of the Legal Education and Admission to the Bar Committee; member of the Clients Financial Assistance Fund Committee; former member of the Board of Governors; and former member of the Budget and Annual Meeting Planning Committees.

Jeff Hawkins is a Fellow of the Indiana Bar Foundation and a member of the American Bar Association’s Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section and Business Law Section.

Jennifer and Jeff Hawkins co-author a monthly newspaper column about estate and trust administration, estate planning and elder law called “Planning For Wealth & Security.” Presently, the column is published by The Sullivan Daily Times, Linton Daily Citizen, and The Jasonville Leader.

The Indiana Continuing Legal Education Forum has engaged Jeff as a member of its Board of Directors and as a frequent author and speaker on the topics of wealth planning, estate administration, guardianships, and real estate law as follows:

Jeff teaches an annual seminar for nursing home administrators in Cloverdale, Indiana, concerning estate planning and health care consent. Other regular speaking topics include charitable giving, Medicaid for the elderly, and non-profit corporation law.

Jeff leads the firm’s business, estate planning, elder law, and municipal law practice. Many families have shared their joy with him during his adoption practice. He has also served many religious charities in his non-profit corporate practice.

Several charitable organizations and public agencies have involved Jeff on their boards of directors or as corporate counsel, including Greene County General Hospital, the City of Jasonville, the Town of Switz City, Sullivan-Greene Special Education Cooperative, Wabash Valley Habitat For Humanity, Inc., Wabash Valley Christian Youth Camp, Inc., Open Arms Christian Ministries, Inc., Greene County Youth Alternatives, Inc., Sullivan County Wrestling Club, Inc., Sullivan County Citizens for Life, Westside Church of Christ of Sullivan, Inc., Bloomfield United Methodist Church, Inc., Worthington Assembly of God, Inc., Lyons Assembly of God, Inc., and Eastside Church of Christ of Terre Haute, Inc.
